McLaren is only making 500 examples of the Senna, and with so many customization options on offer from its Special Operations division, there’s no reason any two should ever leave the factory in Woking exactly the same. We’ve seen a handful already, including Michael Fux’s green carbon example, and the very first one that was done up similar to the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport L’Or Blanc edition. And now we have another. Depicted in this video is the 11th example, and it’s decked out in a rather unique color scheme of Fuji white and electric blue with loads of exposed carbon fiber. The blue detailing continues inside, and the owner went for the optional glass lower door inserts. The Senna packs a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, tuned to deliver 789 horsepower (588 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque channeled to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. With a featherlike dry weight of just 2,641 pounds (1,198 kg), it’ll hit 62 mph … [Read more...] about The 11th McLaren Senna Looks Suitably Racy In White, Black & Blue

The reason for this is fairly simple and it is because countries which have to conform to European Union Type Approval standards for automobiles (including the UK, for now) there are ever increasing rules to limit noise from exhaust. The team told RaceFans.net that the “the story in the UK’s Independent by Christian Sylt is entirely misleading” and that “Mansour Ojjeh has not left the business and remains a director of McLaren Group, the second largest shareholder and a fully involved member of the Executive Committee of McLaren.” The Woking team added that “it is “in the process of simplifying our corporate structure following the reorganisation of the group last year. “An important part of this has been the decision of the McLaren Group to populate its operating subsidiary company … [Read more...] about McLaren unhappy with ‘misleading’ Ojjeh report
We all know that the McLaren 720S is fast. However, have you ever wondered what makes this supercar so accelerative? Let rocket scientist Ryan W. Conversano explain things for you. One of the key factors in the 720S’ blistering performance is its aerodynamic shape. Unlike any other McLaren before it, the 720S places aerodynamics at the top of its priorities, as the exterior design contributes significantly to how fast the supercar is. Unlike many of its brand rivals, McLaren wasn’t pressured into adding sharp lines and angles into the car’s design. Instead, the 720S adopts a combination of flowing surfaces, curved edges and smooth shapes that help to cut through the air, minimizing drag while still offering the levels of downforce needed for such a vehicle. As with the rest of the marque’s models, the McLaren 720S also utilizes a rather ferocious powertrain. In this case, the car has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering an official 710 hp. In reality, we … [Read more...] about Rocket Scientist Explains Why The McLaren 720S Is So Fast

But thanks to a picture posted on the McLaren Formula One Instagram page, we now get to see the design of the single seat hypercar. Or, do we? As soon as the picture was up on the Instagram feed, supercar enthusiasts all over social media got into a frenzy and pointed our attention to the three prototypes in the background of the image. Since the Speedtail is the only upcoming McLaren model, it is only natural to get excited about previously unseen prototypes. But McLaren was quick to clarify that the three scale models in the background have nothing to do with the Speetail. The company instead referred to the McLaren Design Night event held recently at the Ascot dealership to showcase what goes on at the McLaren Design Studio. There was one scale model on display that bore resemblance to the prototypes seen in this image. We think that the … [Read more...] about Is This the New McLaren Speedtail?
If you ever get the chance to visit the McLaren Technology Centre – highly recommended – you’ll be politely asked to refrain from taking photos. Even on the Boulevard that displays a rotating collection of road and race cars from the company’s history, and where this intriguing photo was taken. Even though it’s set up for visitors to enjoy, the Boulevard at the center of McLaren’s headquarters in Woking overlooks some workshops that could contain some rather sensitive material and intellectual property. Like the three mystery vehicles seen in the background of this shot. The image was posted by the Formula One team on its official Instagram feed, showing (in the foreground) one of its earlier single-seaters. But in the background are two or three vehicles that are a little tricky to identify, but clearly do not belong to any of the company’s current models.
