Many psychology experts consider mobile device and social media addiction to be a plague of our time. As it turns out, it’s one of the strongest addictions people face nowadays. A lot of people can’t resist texting or checking out their social media feeds while driving, causing accidents (many of them fatal) that could otherwise be easily avoided. Of course, the most foolproof method to prevent oneself from getting distracted behind the wheel is not to touch the mobile phone. But how many people can honestly say they never did that while driving? According to a recent survey from Research Now, 90 percent of people admit having handled a phone while driving, even though 84 percent of them know that it’s a dangerous habit. In an attempt to fight this phenomenon, Chevrolet hosted a hackathon where teams of young people were challenged to come up with ways of reducing distracted driving. That’s how the “Call Me Out” smartphone app came to life. As most … [Read more...] about This Clever Anti-Distracted Driving App From Chevrolet Might Just Work
Ladies and gentlemen, this could be one of our best insights yet at what the C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette will look like. Following the publication of spy shots of the mid-engine Corvette testing at the Nurburgring with skin-tight camouflage, KSS Studio has created this rendering of the supercar. It could prove to be very accurate. The basic shape of the Corvette is already known. At the front, it will adopt triangular-shaped headlights and use a collection of air intakes rather than a traditional grille. Additionally, we know that the car will have large air intakes directly behind the doors, adopt a steeply-raked rear window, and have a curvaceous rear spoiler. This rendering offers a look at all these elements without any camouflage and it makes for a nice-looking piece of kit. Get your cheque books out. Clearly, the design of the new Corvette isn’t as extreme as the Ford GT but it is radically different than the C7 Corvette. We’re not sold on the shape of the … [Read more...] about Is This What The C8 Chevrolet Corvette Will Look Like?
Chevrolet engineers and drivers have been really busy for the last two weeks testing the mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette C8 at the Nürburgring. While we’ve shown you plenty of spy pictures of the next-generation Corvette so far, we thought you might want to take a look at how the mid-engine model looks like alongside the current C7 generation. The two cars were spotted driving together, providing a good opportunity for a real-life visual comparison. The difference in proportions is clear, giving a strong indication of where the engine is located. While the C7 has a long hood and a cabin that’s mostly located in the rear half of the vehicle, the C8 is a totally different beast. If we didn’t know there was a Corvette under that camouflage foil, we’d bet our money on it being an Italian supercar. The hood is much shorter and, consequently, the cab is brought forward compared to the C7. Also, the massive side air intakes located behind the doors represent … [Read more...] about See The 2020 Mid-Engine Corvette C8 Alongside The Current C7
There was a time when the Chevrolet Camaro was the undisputed sales champion of the U.S. sports cars for five years in a row (2010-2014). Since then, the Camaro has fallen behind its arch-nemesis, the Ford Mustang on the sales charts, especially after Chevrolet launched the redesigned model. And while Chevrolet officials originally played it cool and said that they were fine with giving up some volume in exchange for profitability, the Camaro has dropped third in sales, falling behind both the Mustang and the much older Dodge Challenger. Chevrolet is now trying to cover the lost ground by focusing on the lower-priced derivatives of the Camaro, where its two rivals have seen great success. “Frankly, they’ve been eating our lunch,” said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer of the Camaro, to Automotive News referring to the Mustang in particular. “The low [transaction prices] of a four-cylinder … that’s where the bulk of the sales are and that’s where … [Read more...] about Chevrolet Unfolds New Camaro Strategy To Stop Ford, Dodge From ‘Eating Their Lunch’
After seeing a massive image gallery with the next-gen Chevrolet Corvette, it’s now time to feast our eyes on a spy video. Shot at the car Mecca known as the Nurburgring, the clip shows the much awaited American supercar in action, tackling corners with ease thanks to the improved weight distribution and handling. Responsible for rocketing the all-new Corvette is a rear mid-mounted engine, probably the 6.2-liter V8 LT1, expected to produce around 500 horses. Okay, that’s not really impressive, given that we have mega hatchbacks with 400 hp, but this will be only the beginning, as a flat-plane crank 5.5-liter V8 unit will be reportedly added to the range as well, offering as much as 600hp. Also Watch: 2019 ZR1 Is The Craziest Corvette Ever Made Some say that a twin-turbo version of the same engine might develop nearly 800 hp, thus putting the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette in the same pit as the McLaren 720S, in terms of power at least. And that’s not all, because … [Read more...] about Watch The 2020 Chevy Corvette C8 Tackling Corners Like A Champ
