Mr. Sanjay, thank you so much for your time. I wanted to interview you because I, being a long distance rider, am taking part in the JK Championship for the second time and you take care of the Motorsports division. So, here’s my first question. JK Tyre was initially associated majorly with passenger car tyres and such. What made you people think up the championship and was there any other motorsports event before the championship? Firstly, the credit for most of the motorsport activities be it carting or rallying, it goes to MRF because the initiative was theirs. But besides that, JK Tyre is the one who has kind of invested and created all the properties. Starting from rallying. We graduated to racing and brought karting into India and then the off-roading. We were the initial sponsors endurance events too, be it Raid de Himalaya or Desert Storm. Is the scenario still the same in regards to your presence? Yes, but not like the earlier days. Initially we were partners of the … [Read more...] about #inConversation with Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Head of Corporate Communication and Motorsport, JK Tyre.

Peugeot has released pictures of its latest concept, the e-Legend, ahead of its debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. The e-Legend's design is heavily inspired by the Peugeot 504, a midsized car which was the flagship of the Peugeot brand when it launched in 1968. It was also one of the most successful cars the French carmaker has ever built, having been in production in Europe right up to 1983. The Peugeot e-Legend takes the basic shape and unique design elements of the 504 and merges it with the current Peugeot design language to make for a very retro-futuristic looking package. The 504's roofline, front and rear fascias have all been reinterpreted to suit current tastes. This works in tandem with the heavily sculpted body and bulging wheel arches, against the more slab-sided and simple lines on the old 504. The LED lighting, especially the diagonal slashes at the rear are inspired by current Peugeot models. The interior is a more futuristic take on current Peugeot cars, This is … [Read more...] about Retro-themed Peugeot e-Legend concept EV breaks cover
For every single time I've stood at Arnage Corner at the lovely Circuit de la Sarthe (which hasn't been as often as I would have liked) there must be at least, a 100 times I've stood at C1 at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai, or the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, watching a slew of Indian Touring Cars going by. Or the curious assortment of formula cars that we had on offer. This is "back then" although I'm sure older hands will remind me that a decade isn't really a very long time. But my version of back then is still different from the present. And in this version a snake, peacock, the odd dog or pig sighting at the track wasn't unheard of. Nor was the fact that a view from the pit lane, post race, would often allow one the sight of people actually slugging it out. Whether it should have been like that or not is immaterial. And it made for some interesting tales. A file photo of Arjun Rao Aroor at the K1000 in 2013 For every single time that I've been at any manner of … [Read more...] about On the joys and hardships of motorsport writing…
Stoffel Vandoorne’s McLaren days may not be over even if his time in Formula 1 is with Zak Brown revealing they may run him in IndyCar – if they enter. McLaren have yet to commit to a full season in IndyCar, however, reports suggest that is only a matter of time. And it seems that the team may already have their driver line up sorted. While Fernando Alonso is expected to remain with McLaren next season but in IndyCar, he could have a new old team-mate in Vandoorne. Although the Belgian racer has been dropped from McLaren’s F1 programme, CEO Brown admits he wouldn’t mind running him in the American series. “Yes, I think he’s an extremely fast driver, very consistent,” he told RACER. “I think he’d make a great sports car driver and a great IndyCar driver. “I think he’d make a good Formula 1 driver, we just had a difficult two years. “We have a good relationship. Obviously, it’s difficult when you don’t … [Read more...] about Vandoorne’s McLaren story may ‘continue’
