The M25 remains shut in the anticlockwise direction after a serious lorry crash.
The lorry collided with the nearside barrier and landed near a brook for the River Lea at 7pm on Tuesday (August 21) evening, forcing the closure of the orbital route between junctions 25 and 27.
The lorry was said to be “fully loaded with flammable liquids” which is why the major road has been closed for so long.
Police have confirmed that a man has been reported for careless driving after the crash.
Essex Police said: “We were called shortly after 7pm on Tuesday, August 21, to reports of a single vehicle collision involving a lorry on the M25 anticlockwise between junctions 26 and 25.
“The lorry was reported to have collided with the nearside road barrier, before leaving the carriageway. No one was injured during the incident.
“A 32-year-old man from the Czech Republic has been reported for careless driving with the matter being referred to the courts.”

Lorry ‘fully loaded with flammable liquids’
A Highways England spokesman said:
At 19:10 yesterday evening (August 21) a lorry collided with the nearside barrier and came to rest down the motorway embankment near to a brook for the River Lea. The vehicle is fully loaded with flammable liquids which will need to be carefully removed in daylight hours prior to recovery of the vehicle taking place.
A crane will be required and Essex Fire and Rescue will be on scene to ensure the load is removed safely. The road is likely to remain closed throughout the morning peak period.
Diversions in place
Highways England has issued the following details about the diversion:
Motorists are being diverted from the M25 J27 southbound on the M11 to the A406 North Circular Road.
Travel west on the A406 via Edmonton to the A10 Great Cambridge Road and exit onto the roundabout.
Head north on the A10 to rejoin the M25 at J25.
What we know so far
