The transport ministry says it is looking into the possibility of adding lanes along several busy stretches of the North-South Expressway to improve traffic flow, Bernama reports. According to deputy transport minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi, the ministry is studying the addition of one or two lanes at congested stretches of the highway. He said that once the study was complete, a proposal will be tabled to the government. “Several stretches have been identified, one of them being the Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam stretch,” he said, adding that the introduction of additional lanes, as well as an improved railway system in the future, will provide for smoother, more comfortable travel. Ab Aziz also said that the ministry has identified several stretches of road in the risk category, and will be upgrading them to reduce accidents.
